Water Pollution Prevention Program
Help keep our Hawaiian waters clean and pollution free. Here are some informative resources to show how you can help.
Each year, we are required to inspect our storm drains at Keone'ula Elementary School. We have approximately 22 storm drains on our campus.
Keone'ula ES is located at the end of Kaileole'a Drive. Storm water discharges from teh campus via the small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) which discharges to Kalo'i Gulch.
The median annual rainfall at the school is less than 19.7 inches. The site is flat and is bordered by a future district park. When it rains, water flows over the campus and streets carrying the pollutants it picks up into storm drains. Storm drains are not connected to teh wastewater treatment plant. Therefore, the pollutant water flows directly into our streams and ocean.
Please help us take care of our storm drains to ensure that future generations are able to enjoy our ocean!
